Generic SpR Teaching Course

 

Just got back from the generic training course today. (Had to fight my way through the bloody traffic coming back from Nottingham). It was called "Focus on the Participant as Learner". The course was pretty interesting - learning about learning styles.

 

Apparently, I'm a combination of a Theorist, a Pragmatist and a Reflector, but a low Activist. Those with high Activist scores were anaesthetists and surgeons (surprise, surprise!). This was the first session only - the next will be on the 20th June. See ya there!!.

 

ADDED 20th June: Just did the second day of "Focus on Participant as Learner". The most important thing that I picked up was about coaching styles and the continuum between instructive and facilitative learning. This can be extrapolated to teaching in small and large groups. Did I find it useful? Hmmm, I'll get back to you on that one ...
