Common Features: "COFFR"

  • Colonic Pathogens
  • Oxidase negative (see below)
  • Facultative anaerobes
  • Ferment glucose
  • Reduce nitrate →→  nitrite

These are Gm- but NOT Enterobacteriacae: (Vile People Can't Be Happy)

  • Vibrio cholerae
  • Pseudomonads
  • Campylobacter spp.
  • Bacteroides spp.
  • Helicobacter spp.
