FRCPath II - Journal Evaulation

I have been asked to talk about preparation for the Journal Evaulation section.

Here are my thoughts:

  • Don't take anything at face value. Just because a paper in published in a peer-reviewed journal, it doesn't mean that the paper might not be flawed.
  • Watch out for meta-analyses - how are the articles selected and compiled, and by whom?
  • Do you know the CONSORT criteria?
  • Do you know about CASP?
  • Any finally: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
